Visitor Insights: where people leave your site, and why
If your site gets visits but the phone stays quiet, something on the site may be stopping people. We watch your site's analytics with free, standard tools, find where visitors leave and why, and bring you the fix every month.
What we watch
- Google Analytics 4.
- Where visitors come from and which pages they leave from (exit pages).
- Funnels such as service page → quote form → thank-you page, so we can see the step where people drop.
- Microsoft Clarity.
- Heatmaps: where people tap and how far down they scroll.
- Session replays: recordings of real visits, with typing masked.
- Rage clicks: someone tapping the same spot again and again.
- Dead clicks: a tap on something that does nothing.
- Scroll depth on every key page.
- Search Console. The searches that show your site, which get clicks and which pages they land on.
- Google Business Profile insights. The calls, direction requests and website clicks your profile brings in.
- Form-field drop-off. A small script records which field people stop at before they give up on a form. It never records what they type.
The monthly Leak Report
One page, every month:
- The top 3 places visitors leave.
- The likely reason for each, with the evidence: a replay clip, a heatmap or a form field.
- The fix, and who does it.
Small fixes are made under Hosting + Care. Bigger ones are quoted first.
EXAMPLE Leak Report
EXAMPLE, fictional business, made-up numbers. "Northfield Home Comfort", heating and cooling, Anytown USA. This shows the format only. It is not a client and not a result.
Finding 1: The quote form loses people at "Street address". (EXAMPLE)
- Where: Request-a-quote form, all devices.
- Evidence: the form tracker shows 41 form starts and 12 sends this month. 22 of the 29 people who quit stopped on the "Street address" field. Replays show people tapping into the field, pausing, then leaving.
- Likely reason: people don't want to give a full address before they've spoken to anyone.
- Fix: ask for town or ZIP only, and get the address on the call. → Hosting + Care (small edit)
Finding 2: Phone visitors tap a phone number that isn't a link. (EXAMPLE)
- Where: home page header, phones only.
- Evidence: Clarity flags rage clicks on the header phone number. It's plain text, so a tap does nothing. Replays show 3 or 4 taps, then the visitor leaves.
- Likely reason: they wanted to call and couldn't.
- Fix: make every phone number tap-to-call. → Websites or Hosting + Care
Finding 3: The furnace repair page loses search visitors before the call button. (EXAMPLE)
- Where: /furnace-repair/, mostly visits from search.
- Evidence: in Google Analytics 4 it's the top exit page for search visitors. The Clarity scroll map shows most phone visitors stop about a third of the way down. The call button and the towns served sit below that point.
- Likely reason: the first screen talks about the company, not the problem, and the visitor can't see a way to act.
- Fix: move the call button and the towns served to the top, and add a short "What happens when you call" block. → Websites; tracked by Local SEO
Telling your visitors is part of the setup
These tools have to be disclosed on your site. Setting that up is part of the work:
- We draft the part of your privacy notice that names each tool, what it records and why, with a link to the tool maker's own privacy statement. You approve it before it goes live, and we suggest your attorney reads it.
- Session replays are set to mask everything people type.
- The form tracker records which field was last touched, never its contents.
- Where a tool's terms call for a consent banner or consent signal (Microsoft Clarity does for visitors from Europe, the UK and Switzerland), we set one up.
- The analytics accounts are set up under your business, and you add us as a user.
- Advertising features in these tools stay off unless you ask for them and your notice says so.
We're not lawyers and can't tell you what the law requires for your business.
(Once our own form connection is live, our own site uses a small first-party counter with no cookies. See our Privacy Notice.)
What it needs from you
Access to your analytics, Search Console and Business Profile (we walk you through it on the call), and a few minutes each month to read the report.

Questions
Is it okay to record visits?
Session replay is widely used, and the rules depend on where you and your visitors are. We disclose the tools in your privacy notice, mask what people type and turn on consent where a tool requires it. For a legal answer for your business, ask your attorney.
Do I have to pay for these tools?
Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity, Search Console and Business Profile insights are free, standard tools. You pay us for the watching and the fixing, not for the tools.
I already have Google Analytics. Do I start over?
No. We use your existing account and add what's missing, like funnels and form tracking.
Will it slow my site down?
Each script adds some weight, so we keep it to these tools and check speed on phones afterwards.
